Mauritius

This island in the Indian ocean far from everything is still an untouched paradise where tourism hasn't overtaken the island. The colours, the pleasant temperature, the nature, the food, the friendliness, the refreshing ocean and coral reef not only take away your breath, it also leaves you with unforgettable memories.

We travelled with all four grandparents by Airbus 380 in business (first time for some of us - kids down the back though). We had one night on the East coast and 8 days on the West coast. We rented cars to get around on the island and went to the mountains, through the sugar cane fields and drove along the beautiful seaside. The beaches were like a postcard from paradise - the turquoise ocean and coral sand.

We also visited the capital Port Louis and stopped to see how to make rum. We took a boat trip and swam with dolphins, had barbecue lunch and chilled wine on an untouched spot along the coast.

We had many happy moments, many laughs and the kids fantastic to bring along. Thank you to all the grandparents for being patience with us, our kids and each other and making an effort to make it such a great holiday.
